We are excited to announce that the first ever Sing For Water Cardiff will take place on Sunday 31st May 2015 in Cardiff Bay!
Hundreds of singers from choirs all over Wales (and further afield) will gather together in at the Oval Basin (Roal Dahl Plass) to sing a shared repertoire in glorious four part harmony.
Sing for Water raises money for WaterAid, an international non governmental organisation focused exclusively on improving poor people’s access to safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation. WaterAid works in Africa, Asia and the Pacific region and campaigns globally to realise a vision of a world where everyone has access to these basic human needs.
Sing for Water Cardiff is organised by four Cardiff community choir leaders and members of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network. We are working closely with WaterAid and the Cardiff Harbour Authority to make this event a huge success. We envision this becoming an annual event and the basis for a “Cardiff festival of Song” in future years.
Wales is known throughout the World as “The Land of Song” so Sing for Water Cardiff is a beautifully fitting event for Cardiff, the “Capital of Song” – and perfectly placed in Cardiff Bay with its reputation for openly accessible community events and stunning views of water!
In the first year we anticipate the participation of at least 500 singers, with this number growing each year. We believe Sing for Water Cardiff has the potential to become a World-leading charity singing event and a cultural milestone for Wales.
