Get Involved

The scores and sound files are available to send out now so if you’re a choir and want to get involved, just let us know you are interested and we will get all the information to you immediately!

Individuals wanting to join in can either join one of the participating choirs, or simply learn the songs together in a small group of keen singers.

Choirs teach the 6 songs as part of their usual rehearsals, or run additional rehearsals. The repertoire is of a diverse nature, from around the world, in 4 part harmony (SATB) sung without accompaniment. The songs are intended to be taught by ear but if you normally teach from score then of course that is fine too.

The performance

The massed choir performance will take place at 3pm on Sunday 18th June on the steps of the Oval Basin (Roald Dahl Plass). Singers will need to assemble at 9.30am for a rehearsal until 12pm.

Busking

If your choir is unsure about whether or not to participate, you may like to consider just taking part in the “busking” slots. We are hoping to have around 40 choirs busking at different locations around the Bay between 12 – 3pm. This would be your own 15/20 min repertoire.

Costs

If you DO decide to participate in the massed choir, singers will need to pay a registration fee of£10 to cover admin costs (choir leaders are free. Busking is free). <3>Fundraising Singers are then encouraged to fundraise a target of £50 per singer for WaterAid. This is all easily faciliated by means of JustGiving – we help you set this up. We have found that this target is very easily acheivable for most singers but it can be even more fun to fundraise as a choir.

Rehearsals

There will be just ONE rehearsal for ALL singers – on the morning of the day itself from 9.30 – 12.30am. There is one additional rehearsal for a maximum of 200 singers on Sunday 21st May, 1-4pm. We will send out details of this to those choirs who register their singers for the event.

Express your interest

If you think you/your choir might be interested in taking part please complete the “Express an interest” form below. You will immediately be sent an email that contains all the information you need, and links to the scores and practice tracks.

The best way is to join one of the participating choirs. Please contact the choir directly for this. You could even consider setting up your own “scratch choir” especially for this event and learn the songs together! If you think you might be interested in doing that, please complete the “Express an interest” form for your proposed group.
